"My daughter keeps making silly mistakes."  Helping your child in math can be trying times.  You question why she doesn't rattle off her multiplication tables.  Or perhaps, she forgot steps to complete a division problem.  In addition, word problems seem like a foreign language to her.  Math takes many sequential skills and a good memory (active, short, and long-term) to succeed.  Our research-based solutions, aligned to the California state standards, address Math Fact Fluency, Skill Building, and Problem Solving.  Overall, our programs will increase the student's confidence and willingness to keep practicing.

Math Fact Fluency:  Students who will benefit from our Math Fact Fluency instruction typically exhibit the following:

• Continue to use their fingers (and toes!) to add and subtract

• When given a multiplication problem, they use addition to solve

• Have not mastered recalling (within 2 seconds) their multiplication and division facts by 4th grade

• Have difficulty solving higher order math such as Algebra because they are bogged down by calculating basic math facts

Skill Building Students who will benefit from Skill Building typically exhibit the following:

• Struggle with math concepts.

• Would rather memorize formulas than try to understand the math concept

• Have trouble computing larger numbers

• Work slowly through their math homework

• Need a lot of assistance

• Do not enjoy math

Problem Solving:  Students who will benefit from Problem Solving typically exhibit some of the following:

• Do not visualize word problems.

• Randomly pick out numbers from word problems and put them into an equation that may or may not solve the problem

• Write down answers without making sure the answers make sense

• Get frustrated when seeing a word problem and often give up or guess
